The 189 Elizabeth Street project involved the gutting and making safe of a derelict section of old building within the CBD to create a new, funky retail space in time for the alley way it was located in to be turned into a pedestrian thoroughfare. Access was a major issue in this area due to the shared alley way and limited material handling space. The other issues to overcome was the general state of the building which had been neglected for many years and had extensive termite damage, structural issues, fire isolation problems and drainage problems. After a few weeks on site the whole area was gutted, made safe and upgraded to code. And a new accessible bathroom and retail area was constructed and handed over for future tenants.
