The St Aidans Performing Arts Building project was a complex, large scale extension and full refurbishment of their existing sports hall. The work involved a three story and a two story extension on each end of the building, as well as a large structural steel truss to allow the building to span over the top of the small church building within the school. One of the other main challenges on this project was the building was situated directly over a water table, just below the basement level. This required a series of rock anchors into sound footing and several different waterproofing methods. As part of the build, sound proof recording studios were established, and sound reduction practices were used, to ensure legal levels of sound transmission externally during school dances.
